Baked Brie in a Boule with Crispy Bacon

Ingredients

  • 1 small crusty boule, such as sourdough or country bread
  • 1 wheel of Brie cheese, 8–12 oz
  • 4–6 slices bacon, cooked until crispy and chopped
  • Optional: cracked black pepper, fresh thyme, honey or fig jam

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. While your oven is preheating prepare your bacon for the topping.
  3. Cut the top off the boule and gently hollow out the center, leaving about a 1-inch-thick shell. Set the bread pieces aside for dipping.
  4. Place the wheel of Brie inside the hollowed bread and sprinkle the chopped crispy bacon evenly over the top of the Brie. Add a little black pepper and thyme if desired.
  5. Set the filled boule on a baking sheet and bake for 10–12 minutes, until the Brie is warm and gooey.
  6. Serve immediately with the reserved bread pieces for tearing and dipping.
