Our J. Lohr
Given the daily headlines on the global pandemic, it is easy to overlook other crucial health and wellness issues. Prime among these is the ongoing battle against breast cancer, as the disease impacts one in every eight U.S. women and their families. October is once again National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to focus on efforts to combat this devastating disease. At J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines, though, the fight against breast cancer is not just a topic for a single month, but a year-round, company-wide effort.
This year marks the twelfth anniversary of J. Lohr’s heartfelt partnership with National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc (NBCF). The J. Lohr Touching Lives™ initiative began when the Lohr family designated the 2005 J. Lohr Carol’s Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon a commemorative release in honor of founder Jerry Lohr’s late wife. Carol Waldorf Lohr passed away in 2008 due to complications from breast cancer, yet her legacy lives on in her three children Steve, Cynthia, and Lawrence, who are deeply committed to this mission.
Since the program’s inception, sales from J. Lohr Carol’s Vineyard releases have supported early breast cancer detection, access to mammograms, patient navigation systems, and the delivery of HOPE Kits (a gift box of comforting items) to women undergoing breast cancer treatment. These programs continue to build on a partnership that has funded over 8,000 mammograms for women who otherwise would not be able to afford them.

Activate: Enjoy a Bottle from Carol's Vineyard
Today, $3 from every purchase of any vintage of J. Lohr Carol’s Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, whether at your local restaurant, wine shop, online, or at our Wine Centers, is donated to National Breast Cancer Foundation.
The limited Carol’s Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon comes from our small estate in Napa Valley’s St. Helena appellation. The newly released 2016 vintage earned a ’90 Point’ rating from Wine Enthusiast: “With a smattering of Petit Verdot, this hearty, full-bodied red is robust in oak. Tobacco, leather, clove, and char highlight a concentrated dark-berry frame, with a lingering mocha tone on the finish.” (Wine Enthusiast Magazine, September '20 issue)
Fans of Carol’s Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon can take heart that their purchase aids in providing comfort, support, and needed services for women at every step of the arduous breast cancer journey. Click here to learn more and to purchase your bottle of J. Lohr Carol’s Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon.
