Empowering strides against cancer

J. Lohr’s Touching Lives® initiative is turning 16 this year, and our efforts to eradicate breast cancer are more crucial than ever.

Since 2008, this heartfelt Lohr family partnership with National Breast Cancer Foundation®, Inc. has provided access to crucial services to help prevent breast cancer and aid those facing the disease. A three-dollar donation from every bottle of J. Lohr Carol's Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon purchased benefits NBCF's breast cancer education and early detection programs.

To date, Touching Lives' support for NBCF programs has surpassed $1 Million, funding more than 8,000 mammograms and early breast cancer detection services.

Family legacy fights cancer

Passionate About this Effort

Founder Jerry Lohr and second-generation co-owners and executives Steve, Cynthia, and Lawrence Lohr are passionate about this effort:

“Our mother, Carol Waldorf Lohr, passed from complications from breast cancer, which is why we're devoted to advocating for breast self-care and early detection. Through Touching Lives, we have surpassed $1 million in support of NBCF and have proudly funded more than 8,000 mammograms for women in need. We honor our many distributors and key account partners who have joined us in this important cause through the years – whether by carrying our limited-release J. Lohr Carol's Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon on their shelves and lists or by hosting a J. Lohr Touching Lives winemaker dinner. There are many ways to get involved and help bring hope to women and their families nationwide.”

—Cynthia Lohr, Co-Owner/Chief Brand Officer

WINE WITH A PURPOSE

The J. Lohr Carol's Vineyard grows just one wine in Napa Valley's St. Helena appellation. Named for Jerry Lohr's late wife, this small, unique property is planted to 27 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon (clone 337 on 3309 rootstock) and 4.3 acres of Petit Verdot (clone 400 on 3309 rootstock). With its gravelly, sandy loam soil, Bordeaux-like climate, and sustainable farming, Carol's Vineyard produces the luxury-quality Cabernet necessary to support Touching Lives' outreach.
