Easy San Marzano Pizza Sauce
Made with rich San Marzano tomatoes and simple ingredients, this easy pizza sauce brings bold, authentic flavor to every homemade pizza night.
Ingredients
- 1 can (28 oz) whole peeled San Marzano tomatoes
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 1 tsp olive oil
- ½ tsp dried oregano
- 1 small garlic clove, finely grated (optional)
- Small pinch red pepper flakes (optional)
Directions
- Add tomatoes to a bowl.
- Crush by hand for a more rustic texture or pulse 2–3 times in a blender.
- Stir in salt, olive oil, oregano, and garlic.
- Taste and adjust salt if needed.
- Refrigerate for 15–30 minutes before using.
Use: About ¼ cup sauce per 12" pizza.
Less sauce = better New York-style pizza. Too much sauce can make the center soggy.
Bonus Upgrade
- Add 1–2 fresh basil leaves blended in if you want a little more classic pizzeria flavor.
- Simple canned tomato sauce like this works beautifully because your pizza cooks fast — the sauce finishes cooking right on the pie.
