Spring is all about celebrations, large and small, religious and social, as we mark the return of warmer weather, longer days and new growth. It’s time to gather again with friends and family. J. Lohr has lots of suggestions for “perfect pairings” that will help elevate your springtime gatherings.
Spring Among The Vines
As winter finally draws to a close, our vines in Monterey, Paso Robles, and Napa Valley are bare, pruned, and dormant – waiting for Mother Nature’s signal to begin again their annual cycle.
It is at this crucial time of the year that we help set the conditions for the growing season that will culminate in fall’s harvest. Conscientious, sustainable practices like early sowing of cover crops among the rows are part of the late winter/early spring routine.
Spring 2020 also marks ten years since J. Lohr was among the very first vineyards and wineries in California to become “Certified Sustainable". Sustainability is an overarching way we think about our vineyards and wineries. The Lohr family and team helped “write the book” on sustainable farming practices on the Central Coast. We have maintained this commitment and important certification from the California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance every season since its inception.
