Facts Sheet

Our 2016 vintage of Cypress Vineyards Merlot offers pure classic varietal aromas of black cherry and plum with subtle hints of oak. The structure and savory red fruit signature are reminiscent of the claret style of wine. The comfortable palate weight finishes with a touch of chalky tannin and makes a delicious pairing with grilled kabobs or barbecued short ribs.

Vintage

The windswept Cypress tree, the unmistakable signature plant of California’s coastal terrain, owes its gnarled appearance to the maritime air’s persistent movement inland and seaward. The ocean’s influence on the Central Coast winegrowing region is significant, keeping coastal and inland valleys refreshingly cool at night, while preserving the grapes’ natural acidity and flavor. The 2016 vintage represented an unprecendented fifth year of below average rainfall totals on the coast, but the late timing of the rainfall was positive for the growth of healthy vines and good wine quality. Our passionate commitment to Cypress Vineyards red wines is to preserve and showcase the great cherry and currant fruit flavors resplendent in these grapes grown on the Central Coast.
