One-Pan Chicken Sausage Orzo Skillet

Weeknight dinners don’t get much easier than this One-Pan Chicken Sausage Orzo dish. Made with a handful of simple ingredients, this creamy, satisfying meal comes together in about 20 minutes. A must add to your weekly rotation!

Makes approximately 4 servings.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 chicken sausages, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic, about 3 cloves
  • 8 ounces dry orzo pasta
  • 2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • ¼ cup half-and-half
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • Red pepper flakes, optional
  • 2 cups fresh spinach
  • ½ cup shredded Parmesan cheese

Directions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced chicken sausage and cook for about 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and dry orzo. Cook for about 1 minute, stirring frequently.
  4. Pour in the chicken broth and half-and-half, scraping the bottom of the skillet to release any browned bits.
  5. Season with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and red pepper flakes, if desired.
  6. Cover and simmer for 10 to 12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the orzo is tender.
  7. Stir in the spinach and cook until wilted.
  8. Remove from the heat and stir in the Parmesan until the dish is creamy and well combined.
