One-Pan Chicken Sausage Orzo Skillet
Weeknight dinners don’t get much easier than this One-Pan Chicken Sausage Orzo dish. Made with a handful of simple ingredients, this creamy, satisfying meal comes together in about 20 minutes. A must add to your weekly rotation!
Makes approximately 4 servings.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 4 chicken sausages, sliced
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic, about 3 cloves
- 8 ounces dry orzo pasta
- 2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
- ¼ cup half-and-half
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- Red pepper flakes, optional
- 2 cups fresh spinach
- ½ cup shredded Parmesan cheese
Directions
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the sliced chicken sausage and cook for about 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned.
- Stir in the minced garlic and dry orzo. Cook for about 1 minute, stirring frequently.
- Pour in the chicken broth and half-and-half, scraping the bottom of the skillet to release any browned bits.
- Season with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and red pepper flakes, if desired.
- Cover and simmer for 10 to 12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the orzo is tender.
- Stir in the spinach and cook until wilted.
- Remove from the heat and stir in the Parmesan until the dish is creamy and well combined.
