J. Lohr is Touching Lives for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month
In 2016, to touch the lives of women and their families, J. Lohr is once again partnering with the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc., a relationship that has helped fund over 5,000 mammograms to women who would otherwise be unable to afford them. This is our way of not only honoring the legacy of Carol Waldorf Lohr, but is also our commitment to curtailing the impact of breast cancer. Now in our campaign’s 8th year, Touching Lives is extending its impact in two ways: by now offering $3 from every bottle sold of 2013 J. Lohr Carol’s Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon to benefit the National Breast Cancer Foundation, an increase of 50% over previous vintages, and by expanding its support to include Patient Navigation programs and services. $2 from every bottle sold of any vintage of Carol’s Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc and previous vintages of Carol’s Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon will benefit NBCF.
The NBCF funds Patient Navigation programs to empower women to better understand their health and get access to the services they need in both hospitals and at community events across the United States. Trained patient navigators help guide women through and around health care barriers to ensure timely diagnosis, treatment, and support. In 2015, NBCF helped fund 34 Patient Navigation programs which provided pathways for 74,000 women to receive mammograms and provided 204,000 overall service touchpoints.
This increase in support comes during J. Lohr Carol’s Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon’s strongest vintage year since 2007. Heralded by J. Lohr’s Director of Winemaking, President/COO Jeff Meier as “one of the best vintages since 2007,” the 2013 harvest in St. Helena, Napa Valley, showed ideal growing conditions that support exceptional aromatics and structure in the richly textured, luxury-quality fruit. Ripe aromas of black plum, violet and tobacco are completed by a touch of hazelnut and cocoa powder from the French oak barrel signature. Already receiving critical claim, the 2013 Carol’s Cab received a score of 91 points from the Wine Spectator, which described the wine as “distinctive for its elegance and finesse.
