- Climate: Region I – very cool (UC Davis degree days)
- Soils: primarily sandy loams and alluvium with river stones
- AVA Acreage: 18,240
- First commercial grape plantings in Monterey’s Arroyo Seco occurred in 1961
- Jerry Lohr planted his first vineyards in what was to become the Arroyo Seco AVA in 1972
- Today, J. Lohr sustainably farms more than 1,400 vineyard acres in the Arroyo Seco AVA
- Jerry Lohr and his team were instrumental in detailing the unique characteristics and boundaries that qualified the Arroyo Seco as an officially recognized American Viticultural Area
