2005 Cypress Vineayrds Cabernet Sauvignon

The Cypress is the plant most associated with California’s rugged Pacific coast. Its twisted and gnarled appearance comes as a direct result of the maritime air’s persistent movement either inland or seaward. For grape growing, the ocean’s influence is significant, keeping coastal and inland valleys refreshingly, cool preserving the grape’s natural acidity and flavor.

2005 was another strong year for red wines from the Central Coast. The abundant rainfall during the winter and early spring brought new life to our vineyards with a beautiful crop and pure fruit flavors showing through in the wines. With our Cypress Vineyards wines, we strive to preserve the great cherry and currant fruit flavors from the Central Coast.

Winemaker's Comments

The 2005 Cypress Vineyards Cabernet has youthful purple and red hues with good density. The wine has an attractive mix of chocolate coated cherries and spicy vanilla oak. The palate is a rich mouthful of cherry and currant fruit from the start to finish, with an integrated touch of oak for interest. This wine should be taken seriously by the connoisseur, yet quaffed by anybody who enjoys a good glass of Cabernet. It went perfectly with the Sfinciuno (stuffed pizza) that I made for lunch. Please enjoy now or during the next five years.
