Wines
from Paso Robles keep improving, placing this American
Viticultural Area on the wine map of wine lovers around
the world. J. Lohr Winery has been a pioneer in recognizing
and highlighting the potential of this region, and currently
owns 2000 vineyard acres. Currently 1,250 are bearing
and 750 acres are to be planted.
The climate in Paso Robles is almost identical to Alexander
Valley and slightly warmer than the Oakville District
of Napa Valley. Like the rich Cabernet Sauvignons from
Alexander Valley, Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon emphasizes
the varietal's forward fruit aromas and flavors, with
less tannin than their Napa Valley counterparts. At
J. Lohr, we've farmed these vineyards for years. We
strive to highlight the attractive, fresh aromas and
lush, mouth-filling flavors of wines from the Paso Robles
region.
Fruit from the Paso Robles Vineyard go into our popular
J. Lohr Estates Seven
Oaks Cabernet Sauvignon, South
Ridge Syrah, Bramblewood
Zinfandel, and Los
Osos Merlot. But the highest, east-facing vineyard
block on the property consistently produces the most
potent, darkly colored fruit. This special fruit is
crushed and vinified separately for our Hilltop
Vineyard Cabernet.
J.Lohr's newest series of Bordeaux style wines, the
Cuvée Series, originates
from the Paso Robles vineyards. Styled in the tradition
of the great wines of Pauillac, Pomerol, and St. Emilion,
they are a passionate sense of adventure and determined
evolution, both in the vineyard and cellar.
