Vineyards are the constant of fine wine. While most
wineries buy fruit from grape growers, or finished wine
from contract wineries, J. Lohr owns nearly 3,000 acres
of California vineyards, giving winemaker Jeff
Meier unparalleled control over which blocks make
the cut, and which grapes are sold off to other wineries.
Meier is in the enviable position of working with fruit
from a diversity of different soil types and climates,
from Paso Robles to Monterey to Napa Valley.
Those vineyards are further described in this section.
Watch Jerry Lohr talk about sourcing grapes from regions in which they grow best with Laura McIntosh.
