For thirty years, Vice President of Production David Mezynski has been the hands-on problem solver in every facet of operations at J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines. With degrees in chemistry from Western Michigan University, and enology from the University of California, Davis, David has brought both his practical and scientific expertise to bear in the creation of J. Lohr’s world-class portfolio of wines. From corks and cooperage, to bottling schedules and cellaring, David specializes in the behind-the-scenes work that is so integral to J. Lohr’s success.

A member of the American Society of Enology and Viticulture for over two decades, David is a respected industry veteran who, alongside Jerry Lohr, has helped pioneer winemaking in Monterey County. David was one of the first individuals to explore the commercial uses of reverse osmosis and cross-filtration. Now, together with Senior Vice President of Winemaking Jeff Meier, David actively works to elevate every aspect of quality and production for the wineries as J. Lohr continues to promote Central Coast winemaking and winegrowing.

“My team is the support system for the winery, while winemaker Jeff Meier has the vision,” says David.  “My job is to understand Jeff’s philosophical needs and offer practical solutions.”
