The J. Lohr Chardonnay Symposium features a guided, comparative tasting of seven chardonnays from several appellations. The Chardonnays selected for this tasting were chosen on the basis of consistently high quality standards for a price category and appellation. During the symposium we discuss how various winemaking practices such as malo-lactic fermentation, extended oak aging, and lees contact stirring increase flavor and complexity in chardonnay.

The J. Lohr Descriptor Seminar is designed to help individuals develop an objective criterion for evaluating wine and an expanded wine vocabulary. Participants will start with a simplified component tasting (sugar, acid and tannin), then discover the difference between aromas and bouquets by smelling emphasized descriptors (apple, butter, peach, vanilla, etc) in wine solutions, and finally use their new found analytical skills tasting various J. Lohr varietal wines.
